State surplus property is available for purchase via an on-line service. The public can go to the State's surplus on-line auction site to view and participate in an on-line auction of State surplus property once they are registered. State surplus property includes and lists SUVs, vans, cars, pickups, trailers, miscellaneous items and heavy equipment. New items are continuously added to the auction site as they become available. To use this service interested citizens should go to publicsurplus.com, register as a user, then browse to the Montana region and select items under the "State of Montana Property and Supply Bureau." Buyers are responsible for pick-up or shipping of all purchased items.
The public can attend monthly "garage sales" of State surplus property held at the Surplus warehouse at 16 West Custer Ave on the second Friday of every month (8 a.m. to 12 noon). Items including office equipment, furniture, vehicles, clothing, tools, outdoor equipment, and miscellaneous items, will be available at the garage sale.
