The General Services Division, along with 126 building coordinators in 78 buildings in the Helena area, are in charge of coordinating recycling for state employees. If you have any questions or would like to find out who the coordinator is for your building, please contact the Facilities Management Bureau at 444-3060.
Montana Integrated Waste Management Act
The Montana Integrated Waste Management Act established a 25% solid waste reduction goal for state government and requires each state agency, the Legislature and the University System to participate in the program. Under the Act, they are required to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The Act is presently undergoing revision by the Department of Environmental Quality.
Progress
Tons of recycled products marketed:
- January 1, 1990 to December 31, 2006 = 3,857 tons
- Last year (2006) = 307 tons
